obs_description = A global digital elevation model (DEM) of Mercury at 665 m/pixel resolution was generated using ISIS3 software and MDIS narrow-angle and wide-angle camera images from the MESSENGER mission. To handle over 176,000 images with diverse viewing conditions, new automated feature-based matching and control techniques were developed, improving tie point accuracy, control point density, and computational efficiency. This second version of the DEM applies a 1-sigma filtering step to the point cloud, refining results compared to the original release.
